Out of the blue, this thought came to me. I have been reading since the age of three, when my Mother taught me to read "Little Golden Books" evening after evening with no television in existence then. The other day, taking something out of the fridge,
I had a sudden vision of a long line of books like stepping stones, coming towards me out of the past, and every one of them had a role in shaping my life and who I am today.
Then another thought: what books MOST shaped MY life choices? I kept
myself to five, and here they are:
The Diary of Anne Frank;
The Little Prince
Gift From the Sea
Watership Down
New
and Selected Poems of Mary Oliver
Needless to say, they were hard to choose, but that is part of the exercise: really, the most influential. I was as surprised as perhaps some of you are, reading this. What would the
response be if you did it? Take the challenge and send them to me using the "Contacts" section. I will post them for you! What fun!!!
