In the previous posting I referred to my practice of making a Soul Card on the last day for the year - one that expresses my intention for the year to come. (I have been known to make more than one, but this year it came to me right away). My 2014 symbol
for the intentions expressed in the previous postings is the photo accompanying this posting. (image by Michael Green)
Someone asked me what I meant by "praying" and and the closest I can come is to say that the praying I mean is not words, nor even
intentions, nor specific acts; rather it is a deliberate inner turning towards towards aligning with the Source of All beyond mind or emotions. This happens in the moment, spontaneously, unplanned and unscheduled. It is the most powerful and transformative
practice I have known, though I know it to be the result of years of formal practice in meditation and Centering Prayer as well. It has, I believe, spilled over from them.
As I slowly turn towards a more contemplative way of being in the world, I notice
how many others are speaking this truth also. My most unexpected encounter with it this week was watching the Queen's Christmas Message, something I don't normally seek out but I just happened to be there. I had to watch it a second time because she so emphasized
four words: reflection, contemplation, prayer and faith.
I feel a swell of Divine Presence emerging in the whole world, expressing itself - not in the expected places - but in the unexpected ones. This is the
true evolution, and we are seeing it. To not get fixed on the chaos and disintegration of old structures and ways of doing things, but to let go and turn towards this emerging Divine Presence - first within outselves - will open our outer eyes to see it also
in the whole emerging world.
Integrity is the ability to listen to a place inside oneself that doesn't change, even though the life that carries it may change. (Rabbi Jonathan Omer-Man)
