Brief Encounters Transform

This day a week ago I was facilitating a close to a weekend with 25 people at the Christine Center in Willard, Wisconsin. (See Transforming Websites page) I began work with them on Friday night and ended at 11am on Sunday morning. I had never met 20 of these men and women before. They are part of the ongoing Spiritual Deepening Program at the Center, which takes three years. These men and women come from many parts of the area, a variety of backgrounds, education and experience. They are committed to coming to the Center for a weekend every two months for three years.

What has stayed with me from last weekend is how much is possible in such a short time. I will likely never meet these people again, but the spiritual commitment they have made to their own inner process for transformation (this is the beginning of their third year) makes it possible for someone like me to come in for the weekend, invite them further into spiritual experience, and actually see them deepening and expanding that experience.

That is what stayed with me on the long journey home, through November snow and tricky roads. It was worth every second. I feel myself unspeakably enriched by those brief and potent encounters. And they remind me vividly of how all the briefest encounters of every day can transform...even a few seconds' worth. I am attending to this more consciously since last weekend.

Now into a second reading of INK and HONEY, I am finding it much richer and it's pulling me ever deeper into contemplation of my daily life.
